ABSTRACT
Organic coffee cultivation has emerged as a strategic approach to enhance product quality and maintain environmental sustainability. This community service initiative aimed to implement organic farming practices among coffee farmers by utilizing natural materials, training in compost production, botanical pesticides, and eco-friendly agricultural techniques. The methodology encompassed outreach sessions, technical mentorship, and on-site demonstrations. Compost derived from organic waste and livestock manure was applied to improve soil fertility, structure, and water retention capacity. Botanical pesticides formulated from neem leaf extract, lemongrass oil, and garlic were introduced as safer alternatives for pest control, reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals. Sustainable practices such as organic mulching with crop residues, crop rotation, and cover cropping were implemented to minimize soil erosion, retain moisture, and suppress weed growth. Evaluation results indicated enhanced farmer understanding of sustainable resource management and significant adoption of organic techniques. Positive impacts included improved soil quality, reduced chemical residues in coffee beans, and enhanced ecosystem health. The program demonstrated that organic approaches not only yield healthier and more competitive coffee products but also reinforce long-term environmental resilience. Furthermore, the integration of local knowledge with nature-based innovations proved vital in fostering agricultural sustainability. This initiative highlights the importance of community-driven, eco-conscious practices in achieving both socioeconomic welfare and environmental stewardship. Thus, the program advocates for the institutionalization of organic farming principles to advance sustainable agriculture aligned with ecological preservation and community well-being.
